Read Receipt provides a response when an email message has been opened and/or viewed.

A delivery receipt does not mean that the recipient has actually read your email message. It is important to be aware that not all email servers are compatible with this function. Delivery Receipts provide a response when an email message has been delivered to the recipient’s email server.

Once you know the specifics you can select the option which best suits your needs. It is useful to know the difference between these two options and any limitations in how they work. The options include a delivery receipt and/or a read receipt.

Now when you view a message, you can select Show details and the extra information will be there.Microsoft Outlook allows you to assign two email tracking options within an email message.

Open the Advanced preferences and use Extra headers to add the Importance and X-Priority headers.

To display the importance rating of an email in the Fastmail web interface, you need to add extra headers to the standard display. To set high priority: when composing an email, use the More button near the message header and select Mark as High Priority.īe aware that not all email clients will display if an email is marked as high priority. When you send an email, you can choose to mark it as 'high priority' this tells the receiver that you believe your message should be considered urgent. The Fastmail interface does not respond to requests for read receipts, but will display receipts others have sent to you.

To request a read receipt: when composing an email, use the More button near the message header to access additional functionality and select Request Read Receipt. Even if they are, they can still opt not to respond with a read receipt. This functionality is usually only supported if your recipients are using Outlook or Thunderbird. This is a mechanism to ask the person receiving your mail to notify you when they've read it. When you send an email, you can request a read receipt from the people you're contacting.
